Black screen with cursor after reboot of pc after deploy of winpe image

Hi

I'm pretty inexperienced in all this... I have used Winpe to capture a image from a Lenovo windows 7 64 bit pc. I then tried to restore it to another pc, same batch , both arrived at the same time. This was done using PXE and appeared to work correctly. However when the pc reboots, a black screen with a cursor is displayed.

Any ideas what I should be looking at?

Mike

Configure Agent Provisioning Action from preferred server

Hi All,

I have run into an issue where the agent install action will pull down from the core server rather than utlizing the preferred server. This isnt a workable solution for remote sites with low bandwidth links. Has anyone come across a good solution to this issue as you cant take advantage of any of the provisioning actions in system configuration without an agent installed on the client OS?

The options I can think of are

  1. Put the agent in the image and remove the required registry keys
  2. Have sysprep install the agent

Both would work but I am hoping there is a better / easiser way to resolve this.

Cheers,

Alex

Need help with LD error code (16386)

Greetings,

I have set up ACDSee for deployment but the push job goes to Failed even when the installation is successful.

The ACDSee msi does actually prompt for a reboot after installation but this is halted due to LD using REBOOT=ReallySuppress.

In earlier distributions I have bypassed the 'Failed' status creating a batch script which returns Code 0 instead

of 3010 (ERROR_SUCCESS_REBOOT_ REQUIRED).

However in this case I can't find any msi return code which is related to a reboot required,

would have been great if anyone could have a look at the LD log and clarify why LD returns a Failed status in this case:

Note that in this case ACDSee is successfully installed and the machine is not rebooted,

ACDSee works as it should:

Application uninstall string from the registry

$

We have a whole load of non-standard applications that we have to clean off users' PCs.  It would be extremely useful if, in the inventory we could include the "UninstallString" key from each application's entry from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\ so that we don't have to check each PC individually.  Is this easy (or indeed possible)?

Thanks in advance,

Stephen.

Bonjour,

Configure Agent Provisioning Action from preferred server

$

Cheers,

Alex

I'm trying to deploy a batch SD job with about 10 additional files (dll, exe, cab, etc), and on several machines I am getting this error, while on 90% of the other machines it works just fine.

I've been tasked with creating a report of all software titles and number of installations.  Looking through the forums, I determined that this was not easily done through the 32 bit console, but through the webconsole I built a query with the atttribute to display - application suite  and use the count feature to give me what I need.  Well, it gave me too much, including service packs, windows updates, plus a line for each version of the product. Something on the order of 6,500 Excel rows.  I can eliminate the patches and updates through the search criteria, but am left with numerous instances of product like Adobe Acrobat and Illustrator. I need to get down to the total installations for each product with all the different iterations merged together.

Is there a way to normalize the data within Landesk or am do I need to purchase another product to perform this function such as Managed Planets DTS application.

Cheers,

Alex
